Want to win free hockey gear and support a good cause?

The 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic has had a grave impact on all of our lives. Some of the unseen victims of the current crisis are the pets of low-income families who have suffered a job loss or other major economic consequence due to Coronavirus. That’s why I’ve decided to organize this pet food drive to benefit the MaxFund Animal Shelter (a no-kill facility located just south of downtown) and support their outreach program for low-income families who need assistance caring for their pets through today’s unprecedented challenges. Please consider sharing this email so that we can have the maximum impact and help keep pets and families together.

This drive has been generously sponsored by the Hockey Intelligym®Hockey-Dot and Green Biscuit who are offering free prizes to contest winners and discounted pricing to everyone in the BRS High Performance Hockey network.

The Hockey IntelliGym® is a computer-based cognitive training program for athletes proven to enhance Hockey IQ and improve on-ice performance by strengthening cognitive skills including anticipation, awareness, decision making under pressure, and focus. To learn more about the Hockey Intelligym, Click Here. Those associated with BRS High Performance Hockey are eligible for a 15% discount on 6-month & 12-month plans by entering “BRS2020″ at checkout

Hockey-Dot are the makers of an ingenious new type of training cone which allows the user to attach a hockey stick or PVC pipe to the cones to create an endless array of training obstacles. To learn more about Hockey-Dot, Click Here

The Green Biscuit is an off-ice training puck that is designed to minimize friction and vibration when used on surfaces like concrete in order to mimic the feel of handling a puck on the ice. How to Participate

Brandon and Kermit the Dog want YOU to help turn this single bag of dog food into a MOUNTAIN to help families and pets affected by the economic consequences of Covid-19.

Here’s how the pet food drive competition works (and how you can win some free training gear):

  1. Purchase high quality pet food and save your receipt.
  2. Place the receipt in a plastic bag (like a sandwich baggie) for protection from rain/snow and tape it to one of the packages of food.
  3. Drop off the package inside one of the marked plastic tubs at the front entrance of either Moving Forward Performance & Fitness or The Ice Ranch between now and the end of the day on April 29th.
  4. If you don’t want to leave the house, just make an online donation to MaxFund at the link below and email the confirmation to brandon@brshockey.com.
  5. Whoever donates the most (as determined by the combined monetary value of their receipts and any online donations) will receive one of the three prize packages below. Winners will be notified via email with instructions on how to claim their prizes.

1st Prize: Free 6 month license to the Hockey IntelliGym®, 15% off your next registration for a BRS High Performance Hockey program, a Green Biscuit and a set of Hockey-Dot Training Cones.
2nd Prize:10% off your next registration for a BRS High Performance Hockey program and a set of Hockey-Dot Training Cones.
3rd Prize: 5% off your next registration for a BRS High Performance Hockey Program and a PVC “attack triangle” stickhandling training aid.

Notes to Keep in Mind:

  1. Only leave the house if you are feeling well. Stay at home if you are feeling at all sick.
  2. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after going to the store (unless you order pet food or donate online).
  3. Wipe down the packaging of the pet food with a disinfectant wipe before dropping it off.

Click the image above to see a video of the Hockey-Dot in action. Just press a back-up stick, a broken stick, a 3/4″ PVC pipe or even a broom handle into the tops of the cones to create a training aid which can be easily broken down and stored. Click Here to learn more.

This is a simple application for Hockey-Dot cones which mimics a “dangler” device which you stickhandle a puck under or around or even use as a hurdle for your feet. However, by combining the cones with PVC pipes & elbow joints you can make a triangle, a square, an octagon or whatever shape of obstacles you want. You are only limited by your imagination!

Trying to get Kermit to look at the camera.

Like many organizations, animal shelters are struggling to provide basic services in the wake of lost revenue caused by the Covid-19 outbreak. In addition, families with already limited means are suffering the economic consequences of the pandemic and are being faced with the decision of feeding themselves or feeding their pets. While this pet food drive is, admittedly, a very small ripple in an ocean of adversity, please consider participating. It’s worth it if we can keep one family and one pet from being separated. To paraphrase Teddy Roosevelt, let us do the best we can, where we are, with what we have, today!
